Welcome to Core Culture Pilates Studio, where strength, agility, and vitality converge to create a vibrant, welcoming space that you’ll love to visit. I’m Sarah, the founder and driving force behind Core Culture. Let me share a bit about my journey and what inspires me to help you achieve your health and fitness goals.
My Journey – My passion for movement and health began with a Bachelors Degree in Dance Pedagogy from the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa. In 2008, I became a qualified Pilates instructor through Condition SA – Control Conditioning. To deepen my expertise, I completed my Pre and Post Natal Pilates certification with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). My career has spanned teaching various dance genres and Pilates at the university level, performing with a professional ballet and contemporary company, and working in one of Johannesburg’s top Pilates studios.
During this time, I had the privilege of teaching Pilates to up-and-coming bodybuilders and working closely with physiotherapists and biokineticists to assist clients in strengthening and rehabilitation. This diverse experience has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the body and how to help it function at its best.
Core Culture: A Dream Realised – After lockdown in October 2021, I founded Core Culture Studio. My dream was to create a space that is not only welcoming and vibrant but also a place that feels like a second home. At Core Culture, our mission is to help you improve your physical and mental health, whether through in-person group classes, private sessions, or our online Pilates video subscription.
Our Offerings – Core Culture offers a variety of classes designed to meet your unique needs:
– Morning Group Classes: Start your day with energy and focus.
– Private Classes: Personalized sessions tailored to your individual goals.
– Online Pilates Video Subscription: Enjoy the flexibility of practicing Pilates from the comfort of your home.
My Philosophy – As a former professional dancer, I’ve spent years perfecting and understanding the body’s movements. This deep knowledge enables me to guide you on your journey to better health, whether you are looking for rehabilitation, increased strength, or enhanced mobility. I believe that everyone, regardless of their current fitness level, can achieve a healthier and more vibrant life through Pilates.

There is a nice cheerful atmosphere and at times a good bit of giggling. I would very much recommend it for anyone with balance issues. I have never regretted it! The location is lovely with a smell of coffee and fresh baking wafting up, and I have made lots of new friends. Even in a few weeks I could see that I had improved, thanks to Sarah's guidance, and I miss it if I am unable to go.
